The Backwoods Hog Hunters would like to announce that we are doing a raffle! As you know we are in the process of trying to raise money to help our group pay for expenses, such as gas, supplies for our dogs, as well as an outdoor camera that is high definition!
Also in the process of doing so, the Backwoods Hog Hunters would like to help out Baby David Cunningham. He is 15 months old. Born at 26.5 weeks and weighing 2lbs 6oz. He was born with a dislocated hip. He is having his 1st surgery on September 5th and will be in a body cast for 6 to 8 weeks. David may possibly have surgery again on his hip, which will require being in a cast again. He will also have to wear braces on his legs and may have to wear a helmet if evaluation shows necessary. David is the son of Johnny Cunningham and Brittany Schlinker. He Is the grandson of David and Marie Flake and the great grandson of Jimmy and Jean Flake, all of Wadesboro. This is one tough little guy that is headed down a long road of challenges.
We are having a Split The Pot Raffle in honor of Baby David. The tickets are $5 a piece or 5 for $20.  We will be giving away 3 prizes! The prizes will be winners choice in drawing order. Cody Gardner Hog Joog'en

Hosted our very first Guided Hunt this morning. Was able to put Cody on a 242lb. boar hog. The hogs where on the corn pile like Brian said they would be. Brian has been getting these big boar on his trail camera for weeks now, and with deer season right around the corner he said the hogs have got to go! Pulling up not knowing what to expect, sure enough there they were. Wouldn't you know the 5 or 6 hogs on the corn would make a b-line straight to the cotton field. Making it as hard as possible to be caught. That was ok cause our dogs still laid the smack down on the biggest in the group! Taking care of this big boy was a task in it's self. After rounding all the dogs up we headed to another bait pile and at 480 yards, they made another one squeal. Did the deed and made it quick and easy. We had a blast and made some new friends. As you hear everyone say... That's what it's all about! Shoot Yeah! Big Hog Down!

A Fun Night of Snake Hunting!

What a night we had. I think we all laughed until our sides hurt. The Backwoods Hog Hunters always do it right... We even stopped by a big party and jumped out with our snake catchers and sack, and asked them if we could try to catch some snakes outta their pond. They said we were crazy but get them all. I tell ya, its like the snakes heard we were coming cause they were no where to be found. But it was all in fun giving our man Lee Howard a hard time. You're still our brother Lee!
You guys be sure to check out our Facebook page, the rest of our website, and see us on Youtube!
Also don't forget to stop by 704 Outdoors Facebook page and talk junk to Lee Howard!

Training Day!

8/10/2012

We spend a little time training dogs to bay hogs. Bud, Anthony, and Brian have a few dogs that need to learn to do what they were born to do. Bark at a hog and keep it bayed up, until it can be caught. An animal like this is Not a dime a dozen! These dogs really know how to watch out for themselves and each other as well as their owner! We have a bond with our dogs that most people would not understand. If you hunt hogs then you know what we're talking about.... Pay close attention in the video to how one dog looks out for the other, the way a bullfighter looks out for the cowboy! By this I mean they will turn the hog back if it is going for the other dog!
This is our Monster Pot Belly!

Another Big Hog Down!

This big boar hog is another PeeDee River runner! Can you believe this hunk of meat ran for 2 hrs, before he stop to fight? Anthony, Brian, and Jody laid the smack down on hog number 102! Check out the video here! The day before in the same location Jody and a few friends put down hog 101. They found both of these in the same spot of the corn field on Friday and Saturday. That just goes to show that alot of times a hog dont leave just because the dogs have been through! Alot of times we can catch 2, 3,maybe 4 in the same field before we get through!
